Well... in order to try to communicate news to CMAA members, we use an email service called Getresponse... it works really well, avoids spam folders for most people and makes communication a lot more efficient for us.
The only problem is with gmail addresses. Our emails go right into your "Promotions" folder. Did you even know you had a promotions folder? Lots of people don't, I have discovered.
So... if you are a gmail user and are wondering why you never see any correspondence about upcoming programs or events from the CMAA and never seem to get the word about the super-duper secret discount code for members...
Open up that promotions folder every now and then... we really don't spam our members and we never share email addresses with anyone, ever!
If you are a CMAA member, and don't receive our emails, it is very possible the email we have on file for you is incorrect. I've got an email going out that should arrive tomorrow morning very early. If you don't receive it, email me at gm at musicasacra dot com. We'll get it fixed for you. Thank you!
Janet, when was the last one sent out? The last one I have in my inbox or trash was from early November re: winter chant intensive, and I am not sure if I have missed any since then. I don't have the promotions folder for my Gmail (one can turn it off).
Matthew, You should have received a new email this morning if I have your correct email. I wonder if it goes right to spam if you have your promotions folder off...
I am a Gmail user (all of my post.harvard.edu mail forwards automatically to my gmail account), but a quick search of my mailbox shows that I have not received get any mail from CMAA in my Inbox since the July 2014 colloquium. My Spam folder had nothing from CMAA. I don't seem to have a "promotions" folder, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.
If Getresponse doesn't work with gmail accounts, perhaps it's not the best service for our organization. My brother has been using the free version of Mailchimp for his non-profit, Lacuna Arts, with great success. My previous employer used Constant Contact, but they kept having trouble with verizon.net addresses for some reason...
I gots lots of e-mail addresses. One for work, one from my ISP, one from the forum I co-administer, one from the forum I used to co-administer, and then of course the obligatory gmail, hotmail, aol, and yahoo accounts.
Thanks all... and I do appreciate your patience. For some reason, we are having a problem with a huge number of our emails on the list bouncing... for no apparent reason. I know many of them are good email addresses because I have no problem with individual messages to them.
Mary Weaver and I are working on it. In the meantime, just email me and I'll copy you on the email... my apologies...
