  • Oops. I was early. I haven't been very active on here recently. I thought I should go ahead and change it before I get too busy again.

shucks. my theme selector, firefox, windows 7, again is out the bottom of the page and I can't select it. I chose the lowest I could get and now it's episcopalian blue & white.

that was not a religious insinuation, "lowest", btw, just a technical issue

This 'purple' really reminds me more of "My Little Pony" than Advent/Lent. YMMV

Timid religious question: why should Advent be the same color as Lent?
  • SalieriSalieri
    Posts: 3,177
It's because it's a penitential season, as is Lent. Originally all Vigil Masses were also celebrated with Violet Vestments (Christmas Vigil, Easter Vigil (first part), Pentecost, etc.), also the Ember and Rogation Days, because they were days of fast and penitence.

Yanke does not speak for the board.
  • Matthew,

He doesn't speak for the board, but he does express common sense on this point.

why don't we have a red selection for Good Friday, Pentecost, feasts of martyrs, etc.?

Alas, the theme selector may be going away. I have to upgrade the forum software, and if our theme customizations don't work with the new version, they're not that important.

I'm sticking we green. The purple is too paenitential.

The more you post, the easier on the eyes it becomes. This is most likely because ones own posts show as a darker, richer color rather than the painful pastel pink that's plastered on the background.

I tried the purple/violet for a few hours. I found comments more difficult to read with that background. Back to green.

All of the themes other than green are hideous and need to be purged.

Penance, people! This isn't the season of indulging the senses. Bite the bullet and switch it to violet.

I'm still using beige and refuse to use that revolting green. Dam**d bunch of heretic, Sergianist, new-calendarist, revisionists. Is outrage!!!

I wonder why the SLJ's never turned that into a Lenten ditty as well as Advent?
