Tract in Masses for the Dead (OF)

Obviously in the Extraordinary Form, the tract Absolve is sung after the Epistle and Gradual. The revised Graduale Romanum of 1974 includes the Gradual, since it can always be sung instead of the Responsorial Psalm, as well as several options for Tracts. Though All Souls Day is over-or almost!- I do have a question: when can the Tract substitute for the Alleluia? I say only during Lent, because the Alleluia is specifically included in the funeral liturgy. Is there a definitive answer? I would like to know this, because it is very helpful for making funeral arrangements with music directors (not that I hope to do this anytime soon, of course) in a spirit of continuity.

I don't particularly like this situation, I admit. The Alleluia contrasts too sharply with the facts of death & judgment and that our resurrection is yet to come. It isn't all bad, though. The Alleluia Requiem aeternam is actually quite nice. But, we must be faithful to liturgical law. Thanks for your help!
