Funeral Song help!!
  • Hello everyone,

I'm looking for the setting of "how bright is the day" with a hymn tune, Rosin?? We just received a request for this for a funeral this weekend and I've been searching all over but turning up nada so far. Can anyone point me in the right direction??

Matt, it's not listed in Higginson's Index under "how bright... or Rosin." Sorry. Maybe Kathy Pluth or Chuck Giffen will find it.

"How bright is the day" is listed on hymnary at
    http://www.hymnary.org/text/how_bright_is_the_day_when_the_christian
but the tune there is called MIFFLIN.

That's the tune, chonak ... it's really an old Irish tune "Rosin the Bow" a.k.a. "Old Rosin, the Beau. I'm not sure how it got the name MIFFLIN.

I seriously question whether an Irish drinking song tune could possibly be appropriate, but you probably have no choice in the matter.
  • Thank you Nathan! That's it!
