St. John Vianney is a new Catholic mission of the Ordinariate of the Chair of St Peter. We are located just 30 min South of Fort Worth in Cleburne, TX. Owing to the new Chisholm Trail Pkwy connecting Cleburne directly to Fort Worth, the area population is expected to grow significantly in the next few years.
We have just recently begun a sacred music program. Currently we have a schola cantorum of 8-10 amateur singers who lead the congregation in traditional Anglican and Catholic hymnody, a simple Latin ordinary, and psalm tone settings of the propers, with some Anglican Chant. We currently hold one Sunday sung mass in a local elementary school cafetorium. Because of this we use a keyboard to accompany hymns, but are raising funds and planning to purchase a portable digital organ appropriate to traditional Catholic worship.
Our new musician will be on the ground floor of building up the only traditional sacred music program, combining the best of the Anglican tradition and the Reform of the Reform, in the Southern part of Fort Worth.
Duties include the following: • Playing organ and directing the Parish schola at the Sunday 9:00am Sung mass and holy days • Conducting Sunday pre-service rehearsal for the schola
Necessary qualifications: • Degree in Music (preferably organ and/or sacred music) or comparable training and experience • Ability to improvise in accompanying hymns necessary
Desired qualifications: • Ability to sing some Cantor roles highly desired for some chants of the mass
