We have been handed a wonderful opportunity to provide music for the Feast of the Assumption at the noon Mass. My son will be playing the organ and I will have a lovely group of four teenage girls (1 mine, 3 from other families) en route to their third year at choir camp to sing with us. They are all accomplished in Latin and chant, capable as soloists and choristers. Aside from the required "4-hymn sandwich" we can add whatever we want--prelude, postlude, antiphons (we usually do SEP offertory and communion antiphons).
So, first, I was wondering what music you all are offering for this feast, and, second, if you have any suggestions for my sweet girls to sing. We will have only a few days together to prepare.
Andre Caplet's O Salutaris Hostia would be lovely with a girls' group. Score attached. Grieg's Ave Maris Stella arranged for SSA is also quite nice. Score here.
I've posted this YouTube before, but I just can't help spreading it around some more. : )
