At the risk of derailing the regularly scheduled Tallis- JSB- and Mozart- baiting, may I ask if anyone else has been digging into Gluck and/or CPE Bach? I've been enjoying the G minor & F major sonatas Wq 70/6 and 70/3 and contemplating an organ suite from Iphigenie en Tauride to fill out a program. CPEB's reworking of BWV 639 (Ich ruf zu dir)is quite fascinating too.
Andrew Carter's 75th birthday is this year, as well as Hans Leo Hassler's 450th (along with Gregor Aichinger and William Shakespeare), Claude Goudimel's 500th, and Robert Fayrfax's 550th.
Juan Gutierrez de Padilla died 350 years ago and Felice Anerio 400 years ago.
I have posted on Hans Leo Hassler in another thread.
