    Split off from another thread...
The reality is that people trying to learn google around and probably see this site as one possible resource out of 100 - each with people with opinions.

I realize that figure was hyperbolic, but what are some of these other sites with a similar focus?

But it's too all over the map for me, Geri.

Off the top of my head - sites useful for learning about liturgy or liturgy planning:

Catholic Answers, GIA, OCP, CanticaNova, NPM, WLP, Pray Tell blog, Jerry Galipeau's blog (editor at WLP), the blogs of several people who post here often ...

Just off the top of my head.

Many aren't "message boards," but none the less provide commentary, information, and opinions.

Watch out for the liturgy board on CAF. That place is nuts. Plus, the mods let anything fly, unless you're advocating the truth.

    It's one huge mess.

So virtually nothing other than the CAF with the liturgical/musical focus of this that allows for any of us plebes to initiate discussion?
Ben, I'll take your warning, but give it a try, nonetheless.
I know GIA used to but closed it down, and Liturgy and Ministry Today had one that is now nothing but SPAM.
I was just wondering.... (I was going to say, "I was just hoping," but then I saw CharlesW's post, and I have an aversion to being burnt at the stake.)

Why Ben, thank you for verifying my initial post! Knowing I now have the youth behind me is of great comfort in my dotage.

BTW, the best forum ever, besides this one, and much more loony was RPInet. MJM was a young upstart performance art freak back then. Jason Pennington and BMP were always good for a laugh.
Anne and Katherine were living embodiments of liturgist=terrorists. And there were trolls and geeks that would make us all look like we were putti's in a Raphael painting.

    "Catholic Answers Forum"

Okay, I like that I was not required to devise a password too long or complex for my feeble, Bushmill's addled brain to remember....

Charles, I thought you just meant it wasn't on topic, not wild and wooly. Well, we shall see what we shall see. They seem nice on the radio ;o)

Thanks I guess I should have figured that out. I used to look on that blog for music related topics until I found this forum.

G, that used to be Wendy's fav whiskey, too. She's gone over to Woodford Reserve outta ol' Kentuck.
She's counting the minutes for the Belmont so she can break the seal on the next bottle.

I was lying... it's just that I can't spell Tulamoo... Tallamo.... oh, heck, Jamesons, (it's where to put the apostrophe.)
Trying a new one called "Two Gingers."

(I beg the forgiveness of the thread gods for such blatant drift....)

If anyone goes to CAF (main forums of possible relevancy to musicians: Liturgy and Sacraments, Traditional Catholicism, or even Eastern Catholicism), I will have to give you a list of users who I consider to be trustworthy and of serious quality. Most of the postings in CAF liturgy are just of the "this is what I like" variety. The amount of serious quality posters, I think, can be counted on one hand, maybe two hands.

The moderators are there only to keep us from tearing each other apart. They do not participate in discussions. Each forum (Liturgy, TC, EC, etc.) has its own set of moderators. There are also "super-moderators" who supervise CAF as a whole and serve as a "court of appeals", if you will, if one does not agree with the actions of the particular forum moderators.

The Byzantine Forum (which despite being hosted by ByzCath is open to all sorts of Eastern Christians) has very high quality contributors, but is pretty quiet these days.

The Orthodox (with some Eastern Catholics participating) have a number of active e-mail lists for music and liturgy. If anyone's interested I can dig up some links.

Not worth the trouble. Your threads will just get closed as soon as you get into a real discussion about liturgy. It seems that about half the posts in the whole Liturgy & Sacraments forum is "I like it when my parish does XYZ." A lot of the time XYZ is something illicit, and trying to state that fact will just get the thread closed. And the traditional Catholicism area is just weird.

This is a good line out of context.
