Outside of Ordinariate, "Churchmanship" exists in American RC Parishes

  • An interesting observation.
However, with some exceptions here and there, Episcopalians will generally exhibit a more sensitive form of 'churchmanship' than their Catholic cousins, whether it be rite I or rite II. I have often noted how that the Novus Ordo in the hands of Anglicans would be a thing far lovelier and decent than it is in most Catholic parishes. There are exceptions, of course, in both camps. As for the 1979 prayer book, while fixing some liturgical details that were amiss in the 1928 book, it went on to exhibit a few more glaring theological loopholes. So, while being something of a liturgical victory for Anglo-Catholics, it was, on the whole, a defeat. Curious, too, that Episcopalians who use rite II are now stuck with Rome's awfull 1973 language which is now, thankfully, history.

Low and high Anglican doesn't exactly correspond to Rite 1 and 2, either.

Rite 1 can be Loq or High. Rite 2 is mezzo-mezzo.

I would say the dynamic is relatively marginal in American Catholic practice.
