    Red sea creatures are turning up in all kinds of unexpected places-- see Sunday's Lio comic strip was very rather topical in light of this thread, see below.

    David Sullivan, I had to look up the scribbling, Vampyroteuthis infernalis, which was in the comic strip you posted. Quite interesting. A wikopedia check produced this little tidbit about the vampire squid: "The animal has great control over the organs, capable of producing disorienting flashes of light for fractions of a second to several minutes in duration."

    This would explain why the post-Mass refreshments were limited to goldfish crackers suspended in blue jello.
