We still sing it, at least once a year during October. We have old photocopies of the version from the 1918 St. Basil's hymnal, I guess that's ELLACOMBE. The director leaves a pile of the o…

I wrote this setting of the Memorare. I may tweak it later, if I find that certain bits are hard to memorize and I can come up with something more intuitive.

I would love sung Mass and Office every day during the octave. But the people who actually make the decisions evidently don't feel the same way...

As far as the first Mass you mentioned, posting it on this forum would reach a decent number of people who have competent choirs and like singing beautiful music. Putting it on CPDL is also good, but…

The only one that I would use immediately adjacent to the Liturgy would be "What Child is This". I'd use it for immediately before or after Mass or the Office, but that is in the conte…

This is very quick and rough, but here is an idea of what it perhaps would look and sound like, in F# minor. It's three part, and when you put it in that key, the ranges are more or less SAT, I …

This book by Carl Ott gives many of the Offertory verses (with their Offertories) in modern chant notation. There's room for improvement on Ott's scholarship, but it still g

My understanding is that the Offertory was originally meant to cover the incensing as well. In addition to the chant printed in the Graduale (or Liber Usualis), there were verses (more ornate, like G…

It'd be a shame to ruin the musical effect, but I think that repeating the text "Gloria in excelsis Deo" would be weird, if not downright forbidden (I'm not sure on that point). S…

I'd say a good deal of it depends on technique too. With reed organs, you have "dynamic pedaling" where you can get dynamics ranging anywhere from silent to full volume, determined by …

I know Paul Fey has written many fanfares, and some are quite fun. He sells the music, but I think he has videos of most of them on YouTube that you could listen to first to see if it strikes your fa…

After nearly two years of strong acapella Vespers every Sunday, I will be adding organ for the very first time this Sunday. So they know the music well, and I will be trying to "play behind"…
