What our "Catholic Music" has done
Attended an Episcopal parish where they sang “Here I Am Lord”. I was disappointed. My husband had never heard that song before and I think he was downright horrified. It sounds like children’s music (bad children’s music, at that).

Who is still using the ICEL English Chant Mass?
We used it during Lent this year, the parish people were not very familiar with it. Hope to bring it back again during Advent.

This was me a few months ago, "Please turn to #___ in your Breaking Bad hymnal." (Quickly corrected. And yes I sorrow in our hymnal and that hymns are announced at Mass)

Gateway Composers
I also think the Mass setting from the ICEL chants would be a good idea. Find a nicely harmonized accompaniment (I often use Ostrowski’s from ccwatershed.org). It’s easy for the parish to sing, and gets them chanting.

Over-used hymn tunes and hymns
So glad OCP kept Soul of My Saviour in Breaking Bread. I’m working at an OCP-using Parish now. I’m dreading that on Good Friday they will want the “Behold the Wood”, where the verses remind me of the theme song to Gilligan’s Island

Assumption at Your Parish or Cathedral -
We celebrated Assumption in the Extraordinary Form. Priere a Notre-Dame by Boellman for prelude. Missa cum jubilo, Credo III, Propers from the GR. Postlude was Dupre's Salve Regina and then improvised my way into Joy of All Sinners.

How do you "do Summer", liturgically?
The choir doesn't take a break, it's just usually a little smaller due to individuals on vacation. Everything pretty much stays the same.

Might be starting a schola for a new EF Mass. Where to begin?
Another question: Any resources you recommend as far as learning to conduct chant? I consider myself an organist first, then vocalist (sort of), and lastly a conductor. I have followed conducted chant before, not sure how I would do at recreating it.
