I saw this song on our parish cantor schedule. I did a search on the forum to try and see if there have been any comments or reviews but I couldn't find anything. Any comments positive or negative? My parish is St. Paul's so I'm sure this is why we are doing it. I found a youTub video Song of St. Paul I think this is the right version, our cantor schedule has it listed as Song of St. Paul whereas the video is St. Paul's Song.

Ballads like this are designed for a solo singer in a concert, not for Mass and not for a congregation.

The title apparently is "St. Paul's Song", going by what's more common on the net.

Those rhymes.... they don't rhyme... WHY DON'T THEY RHYME?
  • Two clues:

    a microphone
    a guitar

not suited to use at Mass, or even within the bounds of the church building

There's a cello in the background.

The piece is not intended (by the author) to be sung at Mass.

Thanks for the comments. I must apologize for misleading everyone, the Song of St. Paul that we will be doing in our parish is a home-brew. Our 8th Grade confirmation class for this year (2015) was asked to reflect on the life of St. Paul, in turn they put together some lyrics and the RED put the texts to music. Here is the text with credit to the St. Paul 8th Grade Confirmation Class of 2015.

St. Paul we honor you as our patron and our guide.
We celebrate with joyful hearts now at our annivers'ry tide
Teach us by your mission of compassion truth and care
To be servants of the One True God, the Christ whose name we bare
Through your conversion dedication vision of the world,
Give us encouragement in hope with a story to unfurl
Bless our Parish with the wonder of God's loving embrace,
hold us in your arms of strength as the future unfolds with God's grace.
The mission you began in us will be lived for years to come
Give us the courage unwaivering faith til we see the face of God
  • Comment on this text:

Tone is narcissistic. Te Deum Laudamus can't be well rendered WE praise you, O Lord

Otherwise, I assume you mean "whose name we bear", not "bare".
What does "conversion dedication vision" mean.....

It means that there was a shortage of commas in the 8th Grade confirmation class.

There are some hymns for the Conversion of St. Paul:

    Two by Kathleen Pluth:
