The tune of "I Received the Living God" was composed by Dom Clement Jacob. It's still in copyright.
The words are by Bernard Geoffrey (Geoffroy?) and were translated by a Mr. Hommerding (At least, in the translations I've seen. You've got a different, actually rhyming, translation in your book.)
Sorry I didn't think about this before. I don't think about the songs from Mass in the Seventies as having any origin, since I was just a little kid back then.
Hello! In general, we did not tend to include Gregorian pieces that are found in the Parish Book of Chant, because ... well, for many reasons. One reason is that this would have been beyond the scope of what we were trying to do. But another reason: 7,000 copies of the Parish Books of Chant have been sold, and we foresee our book being used alongside the Parish Book of chant. This is one reason why many items found in PBC are not "doubled" in our hymnal and reading collection.
I am only bouncing this 6 1/2 year old discussion because someone asked me for the text yesterday, and the reference given by Maureen in April 2011 (above) no longer works.
