Queen of Apostles Family of Parishes is a pastorate within the Archdiocese of Cincinnati made up of three churches, Our Lady of the Rosary, Our Lady of the Valley, and St. James of the Valley. This vibrant and active parish community, located on the north side of Cincinnati, recently adopted Source and Summit as its primary musical resource. Each church is acting as an independent entity, but all are currently using the same music each week. All music is accompanied exclusively by the organ. English translations of the Introit and Communion antiphons are utilized every week alongside traditional hymnody that features original hymn texts.

Beginning this summer, the pastorate will be reestablishing its music program to create one unified program among all three churches. The Queen of Apostles Music Ministry seeks to offer a comprehensive vocal and choral music education program for students and adults, an active concert series, choral scholarships, and unique performance opportunities both locally and internationally. Through fine repertoire, advanced vocal and musical education, prayer, and a positive learning environment, the Music Ministry will seek to recruit choristers to develop life-long values which will enhance their spiritual lives and the people to whom they minister.

Repertoire for each liturgy will be drawn from a wide range of liturgical music from throughout the ages: Gregorian chant, traditional hymnody, Renaissance Masses and motets, music from the Anglican choral tradition, and more. In establishing a children’s music program, Queen of Apostles will also be adopting the VOICE for LIFE training scheme produced by the Royal School of Church Music.

As ministers of the word through music, the music ministry provides leadership in the worship of God and in the proclamation of God’s word. In turn, we strive to present superiority in the artistic training and Christian formation of youth and adults and to enrich the cultural life of the community.

The Associate Director of Sacred Music will assist Director of Sacred Music in the administrative, educational, liturgical, and performance life of the Queen of Apostles Family of Parishes Music Ministry. The position of Associate Director of Sacred Music, with responsibilities divided between all churches of the pastorate, requires an exceptional organist and choral director who can provide outstanding liturgical organ playing (including choral and congregational accompaniment, organ works, and improvisations); train adult and child choristers; develop, recruit, train, and direct 1-2 musical ensembles (as assigned), teach music theory, and share in the administrative workload of the Ministry. Ample time is set aside for organ practice.

The three churches of the pastorate offer a wide array of instruments:
    • Our Lady of the Rosary: Viscount, 3 manual, digital organ
    • Our Lady of the Valley: 1898 Grimm and Son, 24 ranks, 2 manual tracker organ
