Finale Question
  • My predecessor left a bevy of Finale files for me to use. However, I cannot open them to edit, print etc. I'm fairly certain that I am using a newer version of Finale. I also believe the originals were created on a Mac and I'm using a PC. I shouldn't think either of those would be an issue.

When I click on the File, Finale opens, but doesn't load the file. When I try to open the file from within Finale, I get a error message stating that the "file name, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect". What's the deal?

Do these files have the extension .mus (or .MUS)? If not, try renaming them with this extension.

If that doesn't seem to work, email me one of the files, and I'll see what I can do.

  • Yes. They all have the .mus extension, which is why I'm confused. I'll send you something. Thanks.
