St. John Catholic Church, located in Westminster, MD, is seeking a Choir Director for its 25-member adult choir. Responsibilities include: directing the adult parish choir at weekly rehearsals, Sunday morning Mass, and special liturgies (Triduum, Christmas, Holy Days, etc.), planning and leading rehearsals and annual Christmas and Lenten Cantatas, and continuously developing the vocal quality of sacred music sung by cantors and choir.

Required qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree in music with specialized training in choral conducting; prior experience directing and conducting an adult choir, and organizing and directing complex performances involving vocalists and instrumentalists, as in a Cantata or similar performance.

Demonstrated understanding of, or willingness to learn, the appropriate information on sacred music in Catholic liturgy; must be willing to follow the mandates of the Magisterium of the Church with respect to sacred music.
Must demonstrate ability to model Christian values of humility and service. Proficiency in organ is strongly preferred.
