Improperium expectavit discrepancy

    Hi all,
    I was looking at the EF offertory proper for Palm Sunday, Improperium expectavit, and noticed that the version on the Rene Goupil site is different than what I see in the 1961 Liber.

    At a glance, the Rene Goupil version seem to have an extra word, "simul mecum contristarétur" instead of "simul contristarétur", and also seems to be "missing" the last several phrases that are found in the 1961 Liber (pages 602-603).

    Am I missing something here, or is there some explanation for the differences?

    Interesting. I think Rene Goupil is linking to the version that is used for the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which is indeed different.

    The additional word "mecum" is found in the old missal texts for Palm Sunday; such differences often stem from the history of the chants--their texts derive from various Latin psalters of quite ancient origin; when the psalter was revised for the Clementine vulgate, the missal was changed, but the chants were left alone. I would surmise that in estabishing the feast of the Sacred Heart, a psalm text was probided and the melody adjusted to fit it.
