  • St. Cecilia Academy and Overbrook School in Nashville, Tenn., are hiring for the position of choir director. The job will begin in July 2012. Applicants should have a master’s degree in music education or related field, at least 3 years teaching/choir directing experience, and a desire to transmit a knowledge and love of music, especially liturgical music, as well as serve as a role model of faith for young men and women. The position teaches choir in grades 6-12.

    Qualifications: Master’s degree in music education or related field, at least 3 years experience teaching choral music and directing school choirs

    Responsibilities:
    Desire to transmit a knowledge and love of music, especially liturgical music, to students as well as serve as a role model of faith for young girls and boys. This position teaches choir classes in junior high at Overbrook school and at the high school level at St. Cecilia Academy. In addition, the choir director prepares music for school Masses and special events.

    St. Cecilia Academy is a private college-preparatory high school for young women, owned and administered by the Dominican Sisters of Nashville, TN since 1860. The school is located on the Dominican Campus at 4210 Harding Road also home to Overbrook School (elementary) and Aquinas College. St. Cecilia Academy encourages academic excellence, creativity and the development of leadership within each student. The Academy prepares young women to meet the challenges of modern life, and to contribute in a positive way to the society in which they live. The student body numbers 260 with 40 additional faculty/staff members.

    Overbrook School is a private, co-educational Catholic school for pre-k through eighth-grade students owned and operated by The Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia Congregation. The school was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education for its high student achievement and excellence in teaching. Overbrook aims to help children grown in grace and knowledge during their formative years. The student body numbers 330 students with 52 additional faculty/staff members.
