    Howdy y'all...

I have a friend who seems to be slowly returning to the Church, in Brooklyn.

These are the churches in his zipcode, 11206:

Does anyone have any church in that area to recommend? I'm not necessarily looking for the sublime here, just something that isn't goofy or heretical, where someone can help a broken soul find the refreshing waters of truth in Christ.

This is the only forum where I feel comfortable asking this question. Many of you helped me out tremendously when I asked a similar question a few months ago for churches for my cousin in Dallas.

Forum member Aristotle Esguerra can probably answer this, as he was formerly music director at the Brooklyn diocese's Traditional Latin Mass ministry.
  • Saint Margaret's Church, Middle Village (Flushing/Forest Hills), NY

  • I confess my ignorance of the situation on the ground in Brooklyn since my departure from Ecclesia Dei Brooklyn back in 2006.

The two sites in the Diocese of Brooklyn that held Extraordinary-Form Masses are some distance from the zip code specified above. They are:
    - Our Lady of Peace, South Brooklyn/Park Slope (Brooklyn)
    - St. John's Cemetery Chapel, Middle Village (Queens)

When I read Brooklyn (never been there, know nothing of the parishes),
I thought of the home parish of Joe Vitacco (JAV Recordings)
    and the organ restoration efforts.

The desired zip code (11206) seems to be some distance from this proposed zip code (11210)

Unless your friend has a car, for the most part, churches in the borough of Queens, while being in the same diocese (Brooklyn) as churches in the borough of Brooklyn, will not be anymore accessible than churches in the borough of Manhattan (the Archdiocese of New York).

Let me see if I can get some input on your question from folks I know who live in Brooklyn.
