Sistine Chapel Choir Sings Anglican Festal Evensong at St. Thomas Church, Fifth Avenue
  • Apologies for re-posting this link. I just noticed that it was posted a few days ago.
  • Absolutely heartbroken to see this … what a missed opportunity: what is wrong with Vespers?

    The authentic prayer is Vespers.
  • Bishop O'Hara's sermon mentions every Pope from John XXIII to Francis I. Benedict XVI is left out. That was really heartbreaking to me.
  • I thought his sermon was powerfully 'oecumenical' - perhaps a tad too much so.
You are certainly right about the (glaring!) omission of HF Benedict.

    ...what is wrong with vespers?

    Not a thing, Dixit.
    Not a thing.
Nor is there anything wrong with evensong.
Evensong is the vespers of the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter.
    It is quite Catholic.
    Benedict XVI said so.
He even is on record as admiring evensong.
Perhaps we could use more vespers that approach the beauty of choral evensong.
I know that such vespers are beautifully done in some few places.
    Pax.
