    Full Time Assistant to the Director of Sacred Music

    This is a full time position (40+ hours a week) including a full diocesan benefits package. We are seeking a talented professional organist/pianist with excellent communication/organizational skills. Applicants should have a strong knowledge of the Roman Catholic liturgy, a working knowledge of Gregorian chant/plainsong (in chant notation), and an informed understanding of Vatican II. Experience in the Extraordinary Form of the Mass is helpful but not required. A master's degree in music or equivalent education/experience is desired.
    Applicant should have the ability to improvise, have strong sight reading skills, ability to work with children, knowledge of accompanying in the English cathedral style, and high musical proficiency. Applicants should have experience in Microsoft Word, Publisher, Finale, and general computer skills. The Assistant will also assist the music director with the annual music fundraising gala and the church's concert series.

    The church currently uses the St. Michael Hymnal and the Lumen Christi Missal. The parish has three children's choirs, a resident professional choir, and a semi-professional choir.

    The Gothic edifice houses a IV/165 hybrid Austin/Allen. The musical repertoire ranges from Gregorian chant to 21st-century composers such as Leo Nestor, Peter Latona, Javier Busto, Thomas Fielding, Eric Whitacre, Morten Lauridsen and Rene Clausen. The choir sings 5-8 major works per year with orchestra and over 225 anthems/motets through the liturgical year.
