    Saint Barnabas Church, Omaha (a Roman Catholic congregation of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter) seeks a full time organist and choir master to serve as principal musician according to the highest professional standard. A successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the clergy in celebrating liturgies grounded in both the Catholic tradition of sacred music and the Anglican patrimony preserved by the Ordinariate.     Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
     Active practicing Catholic 
     Excellent skills in organ playing (including improvisation) and choral conducting (both adults and children) 
     Ability to conduct orchestras and smaller instrumental ensembles 
     Expert knowledge of the Catholic Church’s liturgical tradition and practice 
     A strong understanding of the dynamics of sacred music and worship with respect to evangelization 
     Ability to lead and sustain a program of robust singing which encourages congregational participation 
     Knowledge of available repertoire of liturgical music, including traditional hymns, Gregorian chant, and polyphony, including English plainsong and Anglican chant associated with the Anglican patrimony  
     Proven supervisory, communication, technological, and interpersonal skills

    Essential Functions: 
     Oversee and organize music for regular parish liturgical celebrations including, but not limited to: the principal Sunday Mass, Holy Days of Obligation, Holy Week, occasional Sunday Evensong, weddings, and funerals 
     Direct the adult choir, including weekly rehearsals, and the recruitment of paid section leaders
     Play for the principal Sunday Mass and all other liturgies requiring organ accompaniment
     Establish a choral program for children
     Collaborate with the pastor in liturgical planning 
     Obtain suitable alternate musicians when unavailable 
     Maintain the instruments belonging to the parish 
     Assist with the creation of worship aids for Sundays and major feasts, and related publications
     Maintain and manage the music budget 
     Assist with administrative and educational functions, as needed
