Holy Week Readings in Chant Notation
  • Does anyone have the readings for Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil (Gn. 1:1-2:2, Ex 14:15-15:1, Is 55:1-11, & Epistle) Ordinary Form English Text with Chant Notation . We already own a chant book of Gospels. Any help would be greatly appreciated. God Bless.

  • There is this online tool for setting readings: http://www.gregoriochant.org/dokuwiki/doku.php#on-line_tools.

  • IMO, the tones for chanting the Readings are fairly simple, very similar to the Gregorian Psalm tones. There is maybe one beginning, one middle (with notes that can be added), one end (with extra notes), a special line for a question, and a different line for the final. If one memorizes the tones, and gets the feeling of them, all that one really needs are some simple pencil marks above syllables for up and down movement. If one does NOT have a feel for the flow of the melody to match the flow of the text, it's going to sound awful anyway.
