Since the Mysterium Fidei / Mortem Tuam response were added with Vatican II, someone must have either written that melody anew or pulled it from a historic chant. Does anyone know how it was developed and who was involved? Were there any other new Latin chants added with Vatican II?

It seems it's based on Crucem tuam from Good Friday. That's about all I know.

I believe they are based on the Te Deum chant.

They are Mode IV: most Mode IV things sound either like the Te Deum or Gloria XV.

And the Exsultet and the Preface and the entire Eucharistic Prayer as found notated in the missal. People tend to think the Preface Dialogue is a major sounding do re mi fah but really it is a minor sounding mode IV centred on the re which is where it will end when the Amen finally comes along.
